Age 66 and Still Beautiful: Mae Toi’s Complex Facelift Revision Review

“Even at 66, I still want to be beautiful.”

This sentence is truly from the bottom of Mae Toy’s heart. Because no matter how old we are, the desire to look good, to enjoy putting on makeup, and to love what we see in the mirror never fades away with age.

Today, Mae Toy (wife of Note Chernyim) is here to review her Facelift Revision with Dr. Darin (Dr. Darin Muangthai, Specialized Plastic Surgeon, Medical License 27751) at The SiB Plastic Surgery. It has been almost 2 years now, and the firmness and lack of wrinkles still look so amazing that everyone keeps guessing her age wrong.

Pre-facelift revision issues: sagging and facial asymmetry

At 66 and Still Wanting to Be Beautiful… What’s Wrong With That?

As I got older, what became increasingly obvious was the sagging of my face and neck. Wrinkles increased, my jawline lost its definition, and my neck started to droop. But what made me most uncomfortable was “facial asymmetry.” For others, it might seem like a small detail, but for us who have to look in the mirror every day while doing our makeup, it deeply affects how we feel.

“When putting on makeup or doing anything, I just didn’t feel happy.”

For us women, putting on makeup is supposed to be a time when we want to look at ourselves and feel good. But when the two sides of the face aren’t symmetrical, what used to be a fun activity became a constant source of worry.

A difficult case: previous facelift and Bell's Palsy

Why Was It a Difficult Case? A Previous Facelift and Bell’s Palsy

What made my case more complex and difficult than a standard facelift was my history of Bell’s Palsy (facial nerve paralysis). This condition affects the movement and symmetry between the two sides of my face, which requires ongoing treatment with medication and Botox injections as prescribed by my doctor.

Furthermore, I had previously undergone a facelift at another clinic, but it wasn’t successful. As time passed, the sagging and wrinkles continued to bother me. The previous surgery may have already altered my facial structure and tissues.

So the challenge for the doctor this time wasn’t just “how to make the face tight,” but “how to make both sides of the face look balanced while addressing the issues from the previous surgery.” I was upfront with the doctor from the beginning about my Bell’s Palsy. This task wasn’t easy from the start, but Dr. Darin didn’t back down and took on the challenge, planning everything in meticulous detail.

An 8-Hour Surgery Because Safety Comes First

Preparation and care during the surgery were also paramount. Because the surgery took about 8 hours and I have fluctuating blood pressure issues, it required extremely close monitoring.

“Inside the operating room, there was an anesthesiologist constantly monitoring my safety. Even after waking up from the anesthesia, I had to rest and be observed for about another 2 hours until my body returned to a normal state. For a major surgery, I believe the most important thing is having proper planning and safety measures like this.”

2-year facelift revision update: firm, youthful-looking face

Almost 2 Years Later… They Always Guess My Age Wrong!

It has now been almost 2 years, but I still feel highly satisfied with the tightness, firmness, and the reduction of wrinkles. My daily life has changed a lot. From someone who used to feel uneasy putting on makeup, I can now go anywhere comfortably—even without makeup, I still feel I look good.

What makes me happiest is that everywhere I go, people compliment me saying, “You look so beautiful.” And the best part is, no one ever guesses my age correctly! Many people assume I’m around 40-50 years old. Nobody thinks I am 66. I am so thrilled. Because the face I see in the mirror now truly reflects the vibrant feelings I still hold inside. My confidence is fully restored!

Conclusion of My Impression

Looking back, my decision to undergo this surgery wasn’t about trying to magically turn back time to being a 20-year-old or wanting to become someone else. I simply wanted to feel good about myself again. I wanted to enjoy doing my makeup, go outside without worrying, and look in the mirror and think, “Yes, this is the version of me I love.”

For complex cases like mine—having had a previous facelift and living with Bell’s Palsy—the surgical plan truly requires a personalized assessment. You cannot apply the same formula used for someone who has never had surgery. I am extremely impressed by how skilled and attentive Dr. Darin was with my case.

“I want to tell all women: Please don’t think that just because you are older, you lose your right to be beautiful. Because for me… 66 can still be beautiful. If we still want to take care of ourselves, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Ultimately, a facelift isn’t just about making your face look younger; it’s about making you ‘like yourself again.’ And I can confidently say that doing it this time was truly worth it.”
