Pim Pornthip’s Open Revision Rhinoplasty Review: 14-Day Update

When talking about a “rhinoplasty revision,” I believe many people understand that it’s definitely not an easy decision like the first time. Besides thinking about the new shape, we also have to worry about the original structure, the remaining nasal tissue, and the issues from the previous surgery. Today, I’m Pim (Pim Pornthip, lead actress of the Rabieb Watadasilp Morlam group), and I’d like to share my experience of a rhinoplasty revision using the Open Rib technique at The SiB Plastic Surgery.

From thinking about it for a long time… it was finally time to fix it.

I really took a long time to decide before choosing to get a rhinoplasty revision. A revision is not a small matter, and of course, I was secretly anxious. However, the problems with my old nose were becoming more apparent, especially around the tip, which had started to look thin and translucent. Since I naturally have very little nasal tissue, I felt I couldn’t wait any longer.

Clear brief for the doctor: “Not too sloped, want a soft tip.”

Before the procedure, I had a very clear idea of the nose shape I wanted. I didn’t want a nose that was overly projected or had an extreme slope. Instead, I wanted a soft look that beautifully complemented my face while still keeping me looking like myself. I told Dr. Darin (Dr. Darin Muangthai) directly, “I don’t want too much slope, I want a soft tip.”

The doctor was very skilled at taking my desires and adapting them to fit my actual structure. For someone who has had a previous rhinoplasty and has little tissue like me, designing a new shape requires an extremely detailed assessment of the original structure. This ensures the result looks proportionate and is as safe as possible for the condition of my nasal tissue.

Why did I choose Open revision with my “own rib cartilage”?

For a revision case with limitations and minimal tissue like mine, using material from one’s own body, such as rib cartilage, is an option the doctor recommended. It helps properly adjust the structure or build strength for the new nasal framework. Dr. Darin planned the surgery using the Open Rhinoplasty technique combined with my own rib cartilage.

14 days post-revision: Much less swelling and bruising than expected!

What I want to say to reassure those who are afraid of getting a revision is that the swelling and bruising this time were not nearly as severe as the first time! It’s been 14 days now, and my overall feeling is very okay. I can comfortably go out, live my life, work, and be on camera. As the new nose shape becomes clearer, it constantly reaffirms to me that “I’m truly not disappointed with getting this revision.”

From lacking confidence… to today, where people keep asking, “So beautiful, where did you get it done?”

Once the new nose shape started to show, people around me immediately began complimenting me, “It’s so beautiful,” followed closely by, “Where did you get it done?” This moment made me very happy because I didn’t want a nose that overly dominated my face. I wanted a softness that improved my overall look, which perfectly aligned with what I wanted from the start. The resulting shape is “Very favored, very soft.”

Another thing I was very impressed by is that Dr. Darin has a very light touch and is very kind. Since the doctor is also a woman, she truly understands what women want. Communication was easy, and I felt extremely comfortable.

A message to those considering a revision 💜

A rhinoplasty revision is not just about picking a beautiful reference photo and being done with it. It requires re-planning based on an original nose that has already undergone surgery. Especially for cases with minimal tissue, a translucent tip, or structural problems like mine, a detailed assessment by a Specialized Plastic Surgeon is the most crucial element. There is no one-size-fits-all formula for everyone. Instead, it should start with the question: What is our structure like, and which method is best for us?
