My Open Rhinoplasty with Rib Cartilage Experience at The SiB Plastic Surgery
Sometimes, deciding to have plastic surgery is not about wanting to become a completely different person. For me, it was about improving one feature that had bothered me for a long time while still looking like myself.
That feature was my nose.
Before surgery, I felt that my nose looked quite large, especially around the tip. From the side, the shape appeared bulky and lacked the refined definition I wanted. I often felt less confident when taking profile photos because the shape of my nose did not feel balanced with the rest of my face.
After thinking about it carefully, I decided to visit The SiB Plastic Surgery for a consultation.
What I Wanted to Change
My goal was not simply to make my nose higher or dramatically smaller. I wanted a nose that looked more refined, defined, and harmonious with my facial features.
During my consultation, my existing nasal structure was carefully evaluated. We discussed the areas I wanted to improve and the type of result that would suit my face.
For my case, the recommended approach was Open Rhinoplasty with Rib Cartilage, allowing the nasal structure to be reshaped and supported according to my individual anatomy.

Why I Chose Open Rhinoplasty with Rib Cartilage
What I appreciated most was that the surgical plan focused on the overall proportions of my face rather than simply creating a higher bridge.
The shape of the bridge, the projection and definition of the nasal tip, and the overall side profile were considered together.
Using rib cartilage provided additional structural material for the reconstruction and reshaping required in my case. The objective was to create a more balanced nasal structure while maintaining a result that still felt natural to me.
Immediately After Surgery
When I first saw my new profile after surgery, I could already notice a significant difference in the overall shape.
My previous nose had a larger, rounder appearance, particularly around the tip. After surgery, the profile appeared more defined, with a smoother transition from the bridge to the tip.
Of course, I understood that this was only the beginning of the recovery process.
Swelling is expected after rhinoplasty, and the appearance of the nose continues to change as the tissues heal. I knew I would need to give my body time before judging the final result.

12 Days Later: A More Refined Profile
By 12 days after surgery, I could already see the new shape becoming more noticeable.
From the side, my nose looked more refined and the profile appeared smoother and better defined. The shape of the tip also looked more proportional to the rest of my facial features.
What made me happiest was that I could still recognize myself.
I did not want a nose that looked overly dramatic or disconnected from my face. I wanted an improvement that complemented my natural features and seeing my profile at this stage gave me a glimpse of that transformation.
I Still Look Like MeJust More Confident
This experience taught me that rhinoplasty is not simply about making a nose smaller, higher, or sharper.
For me, it was about finding the right proportions for my individual face.
Everyone has a different facial structure, nasal anatomy, skin thickness, and aesthetic preference. A nose shape that looks beautiful on one person may not necessarily be suitable for another.
That is why having a detailed consultation and an individualized surgical plan was an important part of my decision.
My goal with Open Rhinoplasty with Rib Cartilage was simple: I wanted to look at my side profile and feel more confident while still feeling like myself.
Although 12 days is still an early stage of recovery and my nose will continue to settle over time, I am already excited to see how the final shape develops.

Open Rhinoplasty with Rib Cartilage at The SiB Plastic Surgery
Every rhinoplasty case is different. The appropriate surgical technique should be determined based on the patient’s existing nasal anatomy, concerns, expectations, and overall facial proportions.
For anyone considering primary or revision rhinoplasty, a consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon is an important first step in understanding which approach may be appropriate for your individual case.
Disclaimer: Individual results may vary. Post-operative swelling and healing time differ from person to person, and early post-operative photographs do not represent the final surgical result.
