I’m 56 years old, and for a long time, I had been noticing changes in my face whenever I looked in the mirror.
It wasn’t that I wanted to look 20 again, and I didn’t want to completely change the way I looked. I simply felt that the person I saw in the mirror looked more tired and older than how I actually felt inside.
My cheeks had started to sag, my jawline wasn’t as defined as before, and the skin around my lower face and neck had become noticeably looser.
At first, I tried to accept it as a natural part of getting older. But eventually, I decided that if there was something I could do to make myself feel more confident again, I wanted to explore my options.
Why I Decided to Have a Full Face Lift
One of my biggest concerns before surgery was looking “too different.”
I didn’t want an overly tight face or an unnatural result. I still wanted my friends and family to recognize me immediately. My goal was simple: I wanted to look like myself, just fresher and more refreshed.
After discussing my concerns and facial structure with the surgeon, I decided to undergo a Full Face Lift, focusing on the areas where I personally felt the most noticeable signs of sagging, including my cheeks, jawline, lower face, and neck.
For me, the consultation was an important part of the decision because I was able to understand what could realistically be improved and what to expect during recovery.
The First Two Weeks After My Face Lift
I knew before surgery that recovery would take time, so I didn’t expect to see the final result immediately.
During the first days, there was swelling and tightness, which was something I had prepared myself for. I simply followed the post-operative instructions and allowed my body to recover.
By around 13–14 days after surgery, I started noticing changes that made me genuinely excited.
When I looked at my face from the front, my lower face appeared more defined. From the side, I could see a clearer jawline and a more lifted appearance compared with before surgery.
Of course, at two weeks, I knew I was still healing and that this wasn’t my final result yet.
But seeing those early changes already made me feel that I had made the right decision for myself.

I Was Especially Worried About the Scars
Before my surgery, this was probably one of the questions I thought about the most:
“Will people be able to see my Face Lift scars?”
Because the incision is positioned around the ear area, I was naturally concerned about how noticeable it would be.
At around 14 days after surgery, the incision was still healing, but seeing its position around the natural contours of my ear made me feel much more comfortable.
I understand that scars need time to mature and that everyone heals differently, so I’m continuing to take care of the area and follow my doctor’s recommendations.
The Change I Wanted Was Not About Becoming Someone Else
Looking at my before-and-after photos, the thing I appreciate most is that I still look like me.
My face hasn’t become someone else’s face.
Instead, I feel that my facial contours look more refreshed and defined, while my overall appearance still feels familiar and natural to me.
And that was exactly what I wanted from the beginning.
At 56, I wasn’t trying to turn back time or chase the face I had when I was younger. I simply wanted my appearance to better reflect how I still feel inside.
Would I Make the Same Decision Again?
For me, yes.
I’m still in the early stages of recovery, so I know my face will continue to change as the swelling settles and the tissues heal.

But even at this stage, I’m happy that I finally did something I had been thinking about for a long time.
If there’s one thing I learned from this experience, it’s that cosmetic surgery is a very personal decision. There shouldn’t be pressure to look younger or to meet anyone else’s idea of beauty.
For me, this journey was simply about feeling more comfortable and confident when I look in the mirror.
And sometimes, that little feeling of becoming “yourself again” can mean more than looking younger.
